This Custom Fabricated Console will hold an extraordinary amount of controls and systems, including the Dakota Digital H-VAC Control System and Gauge Clusters, Navigation, Stereo, Front & Rear Cameras, CD player, USB Mirror-Link Control Center, PCS Push Button Shifter, Advanced Keys Push Button Start, Fully Automated Vehicle Control System, and the Dakota Digital Cruise Control. The Custom Dash and Custom Console are Works in Progress....please check back for the final upholstery and detailing....Its gonna be a beauty! Well its been a lil' while since we posted....but we have been knee deep in wiring... The picture above was previously posted to show you what had to be removed prior to the new digital system being installed. WOW! That's a LOT of WIRES! SO....when all this was removed, a custom wire-by-wire harness had to be fabricated in order for the Advanced Keys Control System, the Digital Gauges, Cruise Control, PCS Push Button Shifter, Double Din Navigation & Sound System, Front and Rear Cameras, new Windshield Wiper System, Push Button Start, Line Lock Brakes, Security Alarm, Digital Climate Control etc. etc. to work properly. Simple, right? Nope. We have been trouble shooting the new components to ensure proper working order, and one portion has to work perfectly before moving onto the next area....so we have been diligently checking, consulting, & rechecking to make sure the end product blows your mind!!! We hope you enjoy the series of pictures below, which details just one area of this one of a kind interior. We assure you, its worth the wait!
Its sunny, but cold here in the Carolinas today...hope you all are staying warm, especially our Car Enthusiasts up North!!!
Our Buck is curled up next to the heater...and not moving an inch. We are plugging away on the cross over from Manual to Digital for this '34 Chevrolet Coupe. We are including some pictures of the ongoing fabrication and installation of the Advance Keys Auto Window Closer, Dakota Digital Gauge Control Module, & Power Distribution Cluster. This tedious work is time consuming, but well worth the effort! We will continue to work on the wiring and components and post our work....so check back again! We are sorry it has taken so long for us to update our blog, we have had to pause our work due to a death in the family. We would like to thank everyone who has been in prayer for us during this time.
We started back on the 1934 Chevrolet Coupe on the 20th, and have been working hard to make up for lost time. Here is a quick summary of what we have accomplished: We cut out the front windshield of the car. We began fabricating a custom power distribution panel that will hold relays for the Auto-Loc switches and overhead console. We also started eliminating old analog circuits that were not necessary for the new digital system. On Wednesday, we received all of our relays and began pre-wiring the power distribution board and fuse boxes. We also laid out the new advanced keyless entry system, that we will install after all the hard wiring is complete. Thursday, we completed the building and wiring of all the relay switches, triggers, and two accessory fuse boxes on our custom power distribution panel & continued removing unnecessary wiring from the old wiring harness. Friday, we completed removing the old wiring that would not be used in our new digital system & installed our custom power distribution panel. We connected & ran leads to various new digital controls, completely wired in the large harness for our cruise control system, began running leads to our new digital gauge cluster, & ran a huge bundle of wiring leads through the passenger A pillar for the new Auto-Loc switches. You may see below photos of our last week's work...Please enjoy & until Monday....God Bless! Partial installation of the Dakota Digital Cruise Control system has begun, along with partial design and fabrication of the Dakota Digital HVAC controls. We have completed the hard-mounting & programming of the cruise control Servo Module & ran the throttle cable with linkage installed.
Due to all the components this new dash assembly system will require, building must begin from the firewall and continue to the face of the dash. We must build in partial installs as we work our way to the outward-facing digital instruments including the cluster gauge, HVAC controls, double din navigation system, push-button automatic transmission drive system, cruise control, push button start, keyless entry and an assortment of high-tech Billet push button controls. These changes require we go through the entire wiring system of the vehicle, eliminating all unnecessary circuits and upgrading the wiring to accommodate the capacity of the new load requirements. We are off to a great start, but have quite a way to go yet!...We are definitely in "elbow deep" and are working towards the light at the end of the tunnel!!! The next stage of this build will be to fabricate two more control panels, one for digital gauges and one for the remote, fuse box, & keyless entry system with all remote accessories... Stay tuned as we work our way towards fabrication of the new dash and console with overhead control systems. ![]() The New wiper system has been installed! The Specialty Power Window Wiper Kit is exactly what this coupe called for. The engineering of this system is great for tight confines of this Outlaw 34 Chevy. With very limited mounting possibility's behind the dash, this self contained drive system is easily adaptable to in shop designed mounting brackets. While there are limitations to the amount of bend to the drive cable containment tubing, this system allows for a variety of layouts that are sure to cover your exact requirements. This 34 Chevy did provide some unique challenges though. This 34 had already had a wiper system installed and the pre-drilled locations for the wiper transoms were "interesting". Due to the Cast of the Glass body the aluminum Housing for the drive cable had to be ran outside the a pillar instead of through it. This will require new Garnish molding to be fabricated to conceal the tubing. The transoms are a lot smaller than the individual motors that were previously installed and will allow for a fabricated cover to include some "needed" overhead stowage. Stay tuned, the next install is of a Dakota Digital Cruse control system.
