![]() We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. We sure did! Allen recently completed a repair on this 1976 Jaguar XJ 5.3 C for a local Jaguar enthusiast David Maupin. This beautiful vehicle will soon be on its way to Europe, and needed some minor adjustments prior to shipment. The back quarter panels of the vinyl top had developed some minor rust spots & needed to be salvaged professionally! Below you can see the progression of repairs on both the Driver's and Passenger's side quarter panels. ...and on the Passenger Side.... Allen Carswell's Pro Auto Interiors & Tops has been SO very blessed this year....and we want to THANK each and every person we have had the privilege of working with in 2014!
We are grateful to God Almighty for HIS provision and keeping HIS hand upon us throughout this year of many many changes, twist and turns in our lives! We want to wish everyone a Very Happy New Year & Blessings in 2015! ![]() We have completed the OEM Top and Interior restoration on the 1990 Allante!!!! A brief History of the Allante...By Richard Truit..You should hear the Allante's burbling exhaust. With the top down, it inspires sport driving. With the top up, you can't hear it unless you really wind up the engine. The engine is a willing - though not overpowering - performer. That's good, because a car like the Allante needs to impress with finesse as well as with muscle. Cadillac has struck a nice balance between the two. The four-speed automatic transmission proves General Motors makes the world's finest automatics. Not only is the shifting perfectly calibrated, it is ultra-smooth and the gears are designed to extract a decent mix of performance and economy. The Allante is equipped with traction control. Because it is a V-8-powered, front-wheel-drive car, things could get a little loose on wet pavement. However, the traction control ensures that tires never lose their grip. It excels in every driving situation - on smooth, flat roads; through fast, sweeping curves; during hard braking; and into quick turns. In fact, any twist in the road you might find likely will present no problem for the Allante. The suspension is firm, but that does not translate into a ride that rattles your spine over speed bumps and bad pavement. If you like cars with superior mechanical specifications and high-tech equipment, you'll be pleased with the Allante. The interior has a nice, warm ambiance. The car's powerful computer system provides the driver with all the information he could need. Included are range, miles to empty, oil condition, trip odometer and trip time, outside temperature - among others. All the switches are easily reached, sensibly laid out and lighted. The sound system, AM/FM stereo cassette with CD player, is terrific. The trunk is fairly large for a two-seater. It can hold 16.5 feet of cargo. There is more storage space behind the seats. Counting down to Christmas.... Are You? Have you got all your Decorating, Shopping, Baking, & events planned out? Not Yet?!?!?.....well never fear! You still have 20 days left! Here at Allen Carswell's Pro Auto Interiors & Tops we are busy working like little elves! Work continues on the '90 Allante, with the Convertible Top installed and seats in production. We will post the Before and After pictures to show the great upgrades. Meanwhile, you can see Allen installing the Convertible Top below... We are also excited to see an old friend and his Show Car in the Shop. Ken Saylor brought in his 1934 Chevrolet for some additional upgrades in the Dash and a Center Console. Stay tuned for more Pics to follow.... We are wishing you a wonderful Christmas Season this year...Take time to focus on the Reason for this Season! We are praying you are blessed with Peace and Hope in Christ!
Check back for ongoing updates and upgrades! And as Always....Have a Blessed Day! The Becker Radio for the 280 SL finally arrived! So we were able to complete the installation of the components and finish up on the 280 SL interior! The Updates really make this interior POP! We are loading some of the contrasts below! Hope you enjoy them! ![]() We updated the Headliner also, although we did not take a "Before" Pic. There are some additional Chrome trim parts awaiting installation after the windows are installed at the Painter's Shop. Nevertheless, this 280 SL has gotten one Classy Make-Over! Monday we brought in a 1990 Cadillac Allante. As the photos above and below reveal, there was a considerable amount of wear and tear on the interior and top of this Cadillac. This vehicle will get some much needed updates including new seating, a new headliner, and a brand new Convertible Top.
Check back as we give this car some TLC and as always, have a Blessed Day!!! We completed Electrical Upgrades on two local Ferraris, installing bird man fuse boxes. This is a MUST upgrade for ALL 308 Ferrari owners. Regardless of how well you THINK your electrical system is working, this upgrade fixes the problems you did not even know you had! Hope you all had a chance to enjoy the warm weather these passed few days...We noticed this morning the drop in temperature and it feels like 'Ol Man Winter' is on his way!
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr! ![]() We have completed the interior of the 1969 280SL Mercedes. Here are a few photos of the finished hardtop headliner and drivers seat. We are waiting to finish assembly upon installation of the new (dated) OEM radio, that should be arriving any day now from "Buds Benz". We Cant wait to present the assembled project. You may have noticed that the uploaded photos in this blog have different shades of the same color. That is due to our old Shop camera, a good ol' Sony Cyber-shot, utilizing a whopping 3.2 mega pixels. This will soon be replaced. the final photos of this classic will be awesome! We have been working on the Passenger Seat and Door Panels for this 69 Mercedes 280 SL the past few days. We are pleased with how this Passenger Seat turned out (above)...Allen has fabricated and upholstered both the Driver's and the Passenger's Door panels (see below.) The pictures show the panels at this stage. Final touches yet to be added are the handles, once the windows are installed in the doors.
Please check back for the updates on the Driver's Side Seat and final installations. Have a Blessed weekend! We have completed the carpet installation on this 280 SL. Not a simple task, as there were 22 individual pieces to be fabricated and upholstered for this stage of the process. As you can see, it complements the convertible top cover trim and leather dash work beautifully. The next step for this vehicle will be focusing on the door panels.
Please check back for updates and pictures, and as always, we welcome your comments. Have a Blessed Day! |
